InVoca: voice activated remote

Sports Barn

As I’ve always said, watching TV is an interactive past time, shouting at the box in reaction to a twist in the latest episode of 24 or providing ‘objectively correct’ advice to ‘useless’ athletes is integral to the experience. The InVoca voice activated remote provides a different sort of involvement. Conveniently, you can programme 54 different voice commands for up to 4 different voices, it even allows you to setup macros and execute them with a single command. For example “watch movie” could turn the tv on and change to the right AV channel and also turn the dvd player on and hit play for you. The kit includes rechargeable batteries and a charging base all for a surprisingly reasonable 50 US greenbacks.

200 Mbps network without laying any network cable?!

Netgear Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter

How? By distributing it over the powerlines already in your home! With Netgear’s new 200 Mbps Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter it turns the powerline infrastructure in your home into a home network ready to pump your music, video and photo collection all around the house, share broadband, stream even HD video and do all other things a network offers. Operating at 200 Mbps, it’s possible to stream voice, data, video and gaming throughout any building at speeds to support bandwidth-hungry applications without running any cabling between rooms.

Netgear's Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter also offers a built-in Video Quality of Service (VQoS) for consistent performance with encrypted security to seamlessly stream high-definition video throughout the entire home. The VQoS feature ensures that video and gaming traffic is prioritized above all other network traffic so that HD video streams are free of interruption from others using the network.

Netgear's Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter Kit is comprised of two Powerline HD Ethernet Adapters, an Ethernet cable, and set-up CD. The kit is plug and play so set up is a doddle. Damage to your wallet will be circa £140.
