Introducing the Sony MSVR-A10, this digital video recorder records video from a TV or DVD player via composite or S-video and analog audio inputs, and then stores the signal directly onto a Memory Stick Pro Duo for playback on the Playstation Portable (PSP). On a 2GB stick that would give you between two to four hours of video. Available in the US in mid-April, it will retail at $215.

Less disruption, more function.
Openpeak’s Simple Remote is a universal IR remote with built-in WiFi, a bunch of adapters to bridge WiFi to Z-Wave, RS-232 and IR, and native Windows Media Connect. Most alluring however is the 2.2-inch VGA 262,000-color LCD screen with 320 x 240 resolution providing the ability to view home movies on the SimpleRemote..
The WiFi connection is used to control remote devices via adapters, and to communicate with the Internet and with networked PCs. The remote supports Microsoft Windows Media Connect, meaning it can automatically browse content stored on virtually any Windows XP computer on the network. For example, users can browse their music or photos from the handheld without disrupting the action on the TV. Simply select a song or a picture, and if you have multiple connection points in the home, you can pick the sound system or display that receives the content. As if this wasn’t enough, the remote can communicate directly with the Internet, and so receive Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) data.
We’re keeping our eyes peeled for more on this product for sure.

Yet another development in the “digital download revolution”, Amazon is in talks with Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios and Warner Bros about starting a service that would allow consumers to download movies and TV shows for a fee and burn them onto DVDs. Entering the world of digital downloads with this sort of backing, Amazon would become a titan virtually overnight. With their continued digitisation strategy, perhaps Amazon should be more aptly named: “Algorithon”… don’t worry the email’s sent already.

Made of 120 elastic fabric-covered balls that move around with you, they change their form with “the emotional state of the body”, according to the designer at Anima Causa. Inspired by molecular structures, it can be arranged in a nearly unlimited number of positions: fold it up into a seat, lay it flat as a bed, or wrap it around you. Looks fun although slightly creepy, like you’re being attacked by a giant centipede. Also, if you want to know how much it costs, well, they’ll get back to you.
