An abundance of food, a flatscreen TV to watch, a clean environment, if only I could live in the new fridge by LG

New LG Fridge with 15

I really can’t think of a situation where adding a screen to something won’t improve it, whether that’s pairing up my PC monitor or putting a waterproof LCD in the bathroom. Perhaps strapping one to the front of your face wouldn’t be so good as you’d never get to see it, although, on second consideration it would benefit everyone else and thus proving my initial point that adding screens to things is always a winner. Precisely for this reason the new LG SXS Titanium TV Side-by-Side refrigerator gets a big two thumbs up from this colourful-moving-images addict.

It features an integrated touch screen 15” remote controlled LCD display with TV, DVD, cable and radio connectivity The fridge itself offers instant ice-cold filtered water, crushed ice or ice cubes at a touch of a button, a wine rack, pizza tray and can server (nice touch), plus LG’s Bio-shield technology, which fights bacteria, keeping food fresher for longer. For £2 500 this is a small price to pay for three of my favourite things, flat panel screens (as you know), eating, and keeping clean. Samsung, take note.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Samsung Smartoven

Boy, aren’t microwave ovens such a chore?! I wish someone would bring out something that was even more convenient?! What’s this? The Samsung Smart Oven? It uses "Smart Codes" with pre-programmed settings for pre-prepared meals from Birds Eye. Scan the code, throw in the box and my meal will be cooked "to perfection"? Just what I was looking for, I’ll have ten!... Uhh yeah… in your dreams Samsung. But seriously, how inconvenient are ready meals in a normal microwave? Aren’t microwaves in the top 10 easiest appliances to use, following shortly after the tricky ‘toothbrush’? And even though the Smart Oven does look quite nice, for £300 I’d rather buy a Smeg thank you.

Dell's 50 incher is a monster flop.

Dell's 50 incher is a monster flop.

After years of debating it has finally been proven that size does not matter. The people over at pcmag were not too impressed with dell's new 50” plasma display. Even for a low end budget model it appears to be shockingly disappointing. 'Image quality with most analogue sources was noisy, and all inputs introduced colour errors and other artefacts into video containing dark scenes. Worst of all, HD video viewed via component input or HDMI produced a picture that was vertically squeezed, resulting in flattened imagery. ' Dell are working on the problems and hopefully will be able to tweak just a little value out of this monster display.

NOVEMBER - PS3 Official Worldwide Launch

Sony Playstation 3

And finally, after some evasive manoeuvres and about as on-time as a fashionista, Sony has announced that the PS3 will be launched in Europe, the US and Japan in November. Whats more, Sony has also promised that, unlike the Xbox 360, there will be no shortages. Sony’s Ken Kutagari also confirmed that at least some PS3s will feature an upgradeable 60GB disk supporting the Linux OS, support a variety of TVs, and play games created for PlayStation 1 and 2. Also confirmed was the rumored HUB service which goes by the working title of the PlayStation Network Platform and will be free (the Basic version anyway) supporting voice/video chat, messsaging, on-line shopping, and more.
