Dorm Automation

MIT Students' homebrew automation system

I remember when I was a student some of my more ‘experimental’ peers would try and brew their on beer and grow their own weed. Not for these students at MIT though, they’ve done something a bit more more techy. They’re injected their dorm with some homebrew automation they’ve dubbed MIDAS: Multifunction In-Dorm Automation System. The system is quite impressive, automating party effects, alarms, music, surveillance cams and much more. Check out their site for the deets.

Pyramat Sound Rocker Chair

Rock those video games harder with the Pyramat Sound Rocker Chair

Like your buddy watching you play video games and getting as excited as you, the Pyramat Sound Rocker chair is a great accompaniment to the latest thumb-cramper. In an attempt to attack more of your senses than just sound and vision this gamer chair uses Audio Response Technology (ARX), which gives pulsing seat vibration and a powerful sound via the sub-woofer and two full-range co-axial side speakers, in line with the on-screen action.

Elevating your gaming experience to the next level, the manufacturers have assumed you will be spending more time gaming as well and thus the ergonomically designed chair apparently provides very good support during long periods of play and the rocking motion also allows you to move with the game and shift positions. The Pyramat also caters for you LAN partyers as they are network capable with a max of 8 rockers.

It's fully compatible with all game consoles, TV, VCR, DVD and MP3 players. Bet your pulling your hair out right now if you went and bought the AK Rocker 200 we told you about in April

Available now, costs around £150.
